The law is called Natasha\u2019s Law, after Natasha Kravitz, a young woman who died from an allergic reaction to peanuts. Complying with Natasha\u2019s Law can seem daunting, but it\u2019s important for the safety of customers with food allergies. In this blog post, we\u2019ll explain what you need to do to make your restaurant or catering company compliant with Natasha\u2019s Law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The most common allergens are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Celery<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cereals containing gluten \u2013 including wheat (such as spelt and Khorasan), rye, barley and oats<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Crustaceans \u2013 such as prawns, crabs and lobsters<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eggs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fish<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lupin<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Milk<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Molluscs \u2013 such as mussels and oysters<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mustard<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tree nuts \u2013 including almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, brazil nuts, cashews, pecans, pistachios and Macadamia nuts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Peanuts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sesame seeds<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Soybeans<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sulfur dioxide and sulphites (if they are at a concentration of more than ten parts per million)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is Natasha\u2019s Law of allergen labeling?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Natasha\u2019s Law of allergen labeling requires that any food product that contains one or more of the allergens listed above must be labeled with a clear and conspicuous statement indicating that the product contains that allergen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How Can you comply with Natasha\u2019s Law?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are several ways to comply with Natasha\u2019s Law. The most common is to use descriptive labeling, which is stating the name of the allergen in the ingredient list. For example, if a product contains milk, the label would say \u201cIngredients: Milk\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also calculate the nutrition value of your food product by using a nutrition label calculator. This will help you determine the calories, fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, sodium, carbohydrates, fiber, and protein content of your product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new allergen labeling legislation is important because it will help to keep people with allergies safe.
